Three Athletes Named as Finalists for Young Sports Star Prize

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.
The three finalists have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the past 12 months.
Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a unprecedented innings.
Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his remarkable rise.
The shortlisted athletes were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.
This year's winner will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on December 18th.
The show will be televised from 7 PM GMT.
The Football Star
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to European Championship victory.
She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.
These match-saving moments led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.
Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the top young European talent.
She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.
Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - while still 17 - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.
He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.
And he wasn't finished there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the very first time.
At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, shattering the previous record.
"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and rose to fame with an remarkable and historic innings in August.
Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.
It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.
Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.
"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it motivates more girls to get into cricket."
