Six Arrested Following 12 Million Euro Robbery on Gold Processing Laboratory in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators carrying assault rifles and handguns used explosive devices to breach the security of a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, slightly injuring five employees during what is being called the most recent prominent daylight theft to affect the nation.

The bold operation occurred on Thursday afternoon, with police forces swiftly apprehending the individuals believed responsible and retrieving the loot valued at approximately 12 million euros (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five employees of the gold refining company sustained minor injuries as a result of the detonation, and three employees were taken to a medical facility for examination, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the robbers attacked.

Those arrested, thought to be experienced criminals, were arrested shortly after the incident in the adjacent municipality of the town of Vénissieux, according to investigative sources.

A woman involved who took part in the heist was also apprehended, officers confirmed.

“Six suspects who employed explosive devices in an attack on a precious metals company in Lyon were arrested at the scene,” France's security official stated online, commending law enforcement for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were also confiscated.

The robbery occurred as authorities on Thursday detained five further people, featuring a main perpetrator, in connection with the recent audacious raid on the Louvre museum.

Dozens of investigators have been pursuing four thieves who used a vehicle equipped with a moving lift and cutting equipment to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the museum on 19 October, fleeing with jewelry valued at approximately €88 million.

In a separate high-profile case, burglars recently entered illegally the Natural History Museum in Paris, stealing gold samples worth over $1 million. A woman from China, aged 24 was arrested earlier this month in Barcelona, Spain in regarding the theft, according to legal authorities.
