New information has come to light about the untimely passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.

The Discovery

A source indicates referencing a family associate, a therapist arriving for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the house. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

Upon entering the residence, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained without bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family questioned several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

Additionally pushed back against published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction also extends to descriptions of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
