Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”
In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, his comments indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”
The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.
At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”
The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
