Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
